SciFinder-n: Finding chemical properties in SciFinder-n

Chemical Properties

Chemical properties are in the substances section of SciFinder-n.

Click on "Substances" in the column at the left of the screen and type your chemical into the search box.  You can search with IUPAC name, brand name, CAS number, etc.  If you are searching using a chemical formula, this will need to be entered in Hill notation.

[If you want to search by properties (e.g. to find substances with a specific melting points) click on Advanced Search.]

On the search results, click on the expand button to see the properties.

In addition to the data in this summary box, more properties information is given under the "experimental properties" and "spectra" links.
