TV, radio and films

The University has a subscription to Box of Broadcasts (BoB), an off-air TV and radio recording service for UK HE institutions, which allows you search and record any broadcast programme from 60+ TV and radio channels. The recorded programmes are then kept indefinitely (no expiry) and added to a growing media archive (currently at over 1 million programmes). You can then embed or link to programmes/clips in Vision or can use for personal study/research.

Box of Broadcasts (BoB) This link opens in a new window Box Of Broadcasts (BoB) is a collection of over 2 million programmes broadcast on UK terrestrial television and radio. This includes BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, and some Freeview channels, but not Sky or Virgin Media. BoB is only available within the United Kingdom. There is a complete archive of programmes from BBC1 London, BBC2, BBC, ITV London, Channel 4, More4, Channel 5, BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio 4 Extra , alongside an extensive selection of programmes from other channels. The content is licensed under the university's Educational Recording Agency licence - you do not need your own UK Television Licence to watch BoB.  Use the 'Log in' button, select Heriot-Watt University then enter your HWU ID to access.
This TV scheduling service allows you to record TV and radio programmes that are scheduled to be broadcast over the next seven days as well as retrieving programmes from the last seven days from a selected list of recorded channels.

Users can record programmes, watch programmes from the archive, create clips, search for programmes coming up in the next seven days by title or keyword, compile their favourite shows into playlists and share these with others.
