This guide is written and maintained by the Academic Support and Liaison Librarian for EGIS.  Please use the top navigation to find out about, and make the most of, the services and resources available to you to support your learning, teaching and research at Heriot-Watt University.

There is also a PDF Guide, which you may find useful:

Note, there is a separate guide for:

Skills Hub classes

The Skills Hub provides digital, information and study skills to inspire your learning.  You can attend a free webinar, or use the online resources on the Skills Hub guide:

Classes by topic

Known resource problems

Shibboleth

We are currently experiencing a problem with Shibboleth authentication. You will receive the error message:

Login Failure: Pool is empty and connection creation failed

We are working to try to resolve this. If possible, use EZProxy authentication instead. Use the links in our:

Wiley

We are currently experiencing a problem affecting access to PDFs on the Wiley website.

Please note, for some results, you can still access the full-text via both HTML and ePub articles.

If you wish to read the PDF, you can:

  • go directly to the Wiley website and use the Institutional/Shibboleth login (rather than using the Discovery links that use EXProxy authentication).
  • alternatively if the article is available from another source on the Discovery record please access it from there instead.

We are working to resolve this and apologise for any inconvenience caused.
