All Crown bodies can produce official statistics as set out in the Statistics and Registration Service Act 2007 . Non-crown bodies can be producers if they are listed in secondary legislation. It is at a producer’s discretion whether a set of statistics is described as official.

UK Government Renewables Statistics (replaces RESTATS) Statistical information on renewable energy projects from the UK government. Includes the planning database, giving progress of renewable energy planning applications.The renewables map, which gives annual mean wind speeds across the UK, is not currently available (July 2015).
