EGIS (Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society): Your search strategy

An example search strategy might look like this:

  1. Formulate a clear, focused research question
  2. Define search limits Identify key concepts / keywords and alternative key concepts / keywords
  3. Identify relevant resources to search with
  4. Construct your search strategy (concepts and keywords and how they are combined) and search
  5. Review and assess results and revise search if applicable (e.g. adding/amending/removing keywords)
  6. If happy with your searches/results, save them and set up alerts
  7. Export the bibliographic details, abstract and keywords into EndNote, edit as appropriate, add own research notes/keywords
  8. Find full-text in EndNote.  When this does not work, find full-text using Discovery and append
